WEEK 1 – Mindfulness
6/10 – Busy day which started with an early GP appointment. I am staying on the same medication whilst I wait for my psychiatrist appointment. GP does not want me returning to work until I can show more consistency. I have been given another 28 day sick note and I have to go back in 2 weeks.
I had my first mindfulness session this evening (7pm-9.30pm). I did not really want to go as I saw it as disruptive to my routine. I was not convinced that it was for me and reluctantly went. There were about 14 other people there and they all seemed really nice. We did a practical ‘body scan’ session which I found hard as I could not concentrate or sit still. I found that my mind was wandering all over the place. During the practice I felt twitchy and found myself switching off to it. I just wanted to run around the building. Apparently it is not unnatural to feel this way and the more I practice, the easier it should become. I did enjoy the session and can see the benefits to mindfulness.
